Getting married is such a special and fun time for you and your partner, but also for your friends and family. It is such a joyous time to be able to celebrate your love together during the ceremony and the reception with food, drinks and dancing.
Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, some weddings are being postponed. In order to keep all of your friends and family safe, it is probably best to postpone or downsize your wedding ceremony. You can work with venues like Indian Creek to see what is available for next year when things have hopefully gotten better.
Many couples are deciding to push back their reception, but still want to get married and we totally get it! This is a great option if you still want to keep your original wedding date or you just want to be married already! You and your partner can privately do your vows and hold the reception at a later date. A great idea is to celebrate on your one year anniversary.
So, if you are one of those couples that decided to say, “I do” amongst all this chaos and hold out for a party later, you may be wondering how you can still celebrate just a little and we have some ideas!
Virtual reception
Although this definitely isn’t as fun or the same as a real one, a virtual reception is still a way to see everyone’s face and talk about your new marriage! You can set up a Zoom link and have your closest friends and family join in.
Have a virtual happy hour where everyone has a drink to toast the new couple. Consider playing some games, like who knows the bride and groom better or some trivia! Don’t be afraid to get silly and even have a dance party like you would in person. Though it may seem odd, you could even have a first dance with your new spouse.
Car parade
Another tradition that has started happening during the pandemic is a car parade. If you aren’t sure what that is, it consists of your friends and family driving by your house, honking and waving to you. Though this may seem silly, it can actually be really nice to see everyone’s face in person, from a safe distance. This works best if you live close to friends and family and they are able to quickly drive by and participate. People can get out quick to leave gifts at your door or in your driveway if they want!
Get away
Though travel is pretty limited right now and we should all be working to keep a safe distance from each other, there are still a few ways that you can have a small vacation. Try finding a place within driving distance that requires no contact with others. Airbnb is a great option as you typically won’t have to interact in person with anyone.
You can also search for small cabins to rent that would be away from others. Be sure to bring some cleaning supplies with you to wipe everything down when you get there and before you leave. This is the best way to have some time away from home to celebrate with your partner while still being safe!
Though we at Indian Creek would love to see your smiling faces, we want everyone to be safe! If you need to postpone your reception or would like to book your date for next year, give Indian Creek a call today and we can help you get planning!
