The wedding ceremony is all about joining two people together in matrimony and love. It can be a beautiful presentation to showcase your commitment to another person, but sometimes, it gets lost in all the commotion of your wedding day. With an open bar, DJ and yummy food calling everyone's name at the reception, making sure your ceremony is memorable can be difficult.
Luckily, making your outdoor wedding ceremony the star of the show is easier with these fun ideas!
1. A fun, unique alter
Having a fun and unique altar or floral arch at your ceremony will help to center and frame you and your significant other. This gives people a focus on where to look and provides an absolutely stunning backdrop for photos. You don’t normally get the opportunity to create your own backdrop with an indoor ceremony, so you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the space. People may even want to use the wedding arch themselves for fun wedding selfies!
2. Keep it shady
This is especially important if you are having an outdoor wedding! Summertime is a popular wedding season, but the temperatures can get scorching! Having fun umbrellas around the seating area will help ensure that your guests are comfortable and pay attention during the ceremony instead of thinking, “when will this be over?” Just make sure whatever shade-producing item you use is tall enough to not block their view.
3. Give out cute accessories
This will help make your ceremony memorable and can serve as functional for your guests. Giving out mini-fans with your wedding date on them can serve as a favor and make sure guests stay cool. Maybe if you are expecting rain during your outdoor wedding ceremony, handing out umbrellas would be nice! Another cute option is little handkerchiefs for all the teary eyes that will be happening when you say, “I do!”
4. Anniversary capsule
This can be something for you AND for your guests to participate in during your ceremony. As guests enter, have them take a piece of paper and pen and write well wishes for you and your significant other. This can then be placed in an “anniversary capsule” that you open after you and your spouse have been married for a year, five years, or whatever amount of time. You can also place your vows in the capsule so that you can read them back to each other even as time passes on.
5. Plan an extravagant exit
While a lot of people plan a beautiful exit from the reception, why not do one for the ceremony too? You can hand out bubbles or flower petals at the beginning of the ceremony that people can hold on to and release when you walk down the aisle the first time as a married couple! This will help make people feel included and will make for amazing pictures.
