April showers may bring May flowers, but that doesn’t mean you want it to rain during your spring wedding! Sometimes, even the best laid plans can have a few hiccups along the way, but rain on your wedding day does not have to be one of them! Even if mother nature has a storm in store for you, following some of these tips can help you to be more prepared and keep your big day running smoothly.
1. Rent one of the dual-purpose wedding venues Omaha has
Worried about rain starting to pour in the middle of your ceremony? Book a wedding venue that has an indoor and an outdoor space! That way if you are enjoying the outdoors and it begins to rain, you do not have to travel very far to stay dry! If you are planning for an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception, ask your wedding venue team how quickly and easily they would be able to flip the indoor space to accommodate a ceremony and a reception.
2. Plan for a 100 percent chance of rain
The best way to be prepared for rain is to plan as if you know 100 percent it is going to happen, especially if your wedding is during Omaha’s “wetter season.” You can plan on renting a tent, investing in wedding insurance or creating a contingency plan that can act as your safety net in case something goes wrong when planning your outdoor wedding. When looking at the wedding venues Omaha has, ask them if they already have a plan in place for rainy days.
3. Keep your guests up-to-date
If after checking the forecast and seeing rain in the prediction, some guests may become apprehensive! It never hurts to keep guests in the loop so that they know what the plan is. You can include an “in the case of rain,” memo on the invite, or make sure that you place arrow signs around the venue that will lead guests to a dry location.
4. Have extra materials on hand
It’s not uncommon for couples to bring umbrellas or towels with them to have on hand in case it rains. This is great to have for the bridal party, but it can be helpful to bring extras in case any of the guests need them! If you get clear umbrellas with your wedding date and initials on them, then you can even turn them into your wedding favors. Many photographers prefer clear umbrellas for photo opportunities because they don’t cast a shadow on your face.
5. Set the right mood
You know what they say, rain on your wedding day is supposed to be a sign of good luck! While many people are bummed to find overcast skies on their big day, keeping a positive attitude is important. Embracing the rain can be the best thing you do so your day does not feel ruined! Rain or shine, you are getting to marry the love of your life and that is the best reason to celebrate!
