Planning a wedding can be extremely expensive, especially if you want something extravagant. Planning a wedding budget is important to see what you are able to afford and where your expenses will be going, but what if your dream wedding is outside of your budget?
Many couples already have a specific idea of what they want their wedding to look like. A lot of times this includes the food, dress, venue and all other small details. It can be hard to sacrifice certain things you want because your budget doesn’t allow for it. It may seem like you will have to cut some things out of your wedding planning because you can’t afford it, but there are actually many ways that you can cut costs and save money on your wedding to allocate that money to the things that are really important to you and your partner.
Picking your date
If you have a certain date in mind and that is really important to you, this may not be the way that you try to cut some costs. If a specific date is not super important to you, consider choosing one that is less popular. This doesn’t mean a specific date, but a day of the week.
At Indian Creek, most times weddings are held on Saturdays, which means that booking on that day can get expensive. They are popular and booked fairly quickly. A great way to save a decent chunk of money is by considering having your wedding on a different day of the week. A Friday wedding or even a Sunday wedding can save you up to $4,000 on your venue payment.
You may need to think of other accommodations if you are going to choose a day other than Saturday. This could mean your guests making different travel plans. This could also mean planning your wedding at a time that your guests will be able to make. Remember that most people work on Fridays, so be sure to give enough time for guests to arrive. If you are willing to tie the knot on a day other than Saturday, this can be an awesome way to save a significant amount of your budget.
Plan your guest list carefully
This may seem like a no brainer, but oftentimes couples invite way more guests than they initially planned to. This can sometimes be attributed to parents adding to the list, or the couple feeling bad for leaving anybody out.
While you definitely want to be surrounded by friends and family on your big day, take into consideration the most important people in both of your lives. Remember that one additional person means one additional meal, additional drinks and an additional seat. That can very quickly add up in the long run. Trim down your guest list to only those who you feel you cannot celebrate without and you can save a pretty good chunk of money.
The dress
Most of the time the bride will already have an idea of what she wants her dress to look like. Picking the perfect dress can be one of the most exciting parts of planning for the wedding. When making your budget, set a reasonable price and stick to not going over that. This will make sure that whatever budget you set aside for other things will not be taken away for the dress.
In order to save some money when buying your wedding dress, check out department stores. This may sound odd, but many department stores carry some incredible options. This also applies to finding bridesmaids dresses. Another way to save some cash when it comes to the dress is to shop the sample rack. This means buying the dress that is used to try on. The downside of this is that it can become worn with a lot of use, but you can often have repairs done for fairly cheap. Typically sample dresses are a win-win when it comes to your budget.
