Planning a wedding can be stressful. Being sure that you are getting everything done and aren’t forgetting tasks, items, people or certain elements can be a lot of pressure when planning your wedding. Many brides report more and more stress as the wedding day gets closer. Many times this is due to the fear of forgetting last minute things that need to be done. Here is a ‘week of” wedding day checklist to help calm your nerves and get excited instead of anxious for your big day!
Pick up your dress/suit
This may seem like a no brainer, but the week of your wedding you should be sure to pick up your wedding dress and/or suit. Once it has been picked up, make sure to try it on and make sure it fits and all alterations were done correctly to avoid having a fashion disaster on the day of! In addition, be sure to figure out how your dress/suit will be getting to the venue.
Break in your shoes
Your wedding shoes are likely to be brand new and if you’re wearing heels they will likely need some breaking in. Wear your wedding shoes every day this week for a short period of time. Make sure you are walking on different surfaces to get used to them. You’ll be wearing them for quite a while on your wedding day, the last thing you want is painful feet when trying to dance and have a good time!
Clean your ring
One small detail that many people don’t think about is getting their engagement ring cleaned before the wedding. Chances are you’ve been wearing that ring daily for some time and it is likely to be a little dirty. Getting it cleaned right before the wedding is a great way to make sure it sparkles like the day you got it. Plus, wedding photographers like to take quite a few close up ring photos, so you want to be sure it’s looking its best!
Finalize the seating chart
Now that the wedding is only a week away, you should have a finalized list of RSVPs and everyone who will be attending. Now is the perfect time to finalize your seating chart if you decided to have one. Sit down with your partner and go through the guest list to decide where you’d like everyone to sit. Consider your table shapes and sizes and what the venue looks like! Once finished, you should send that off to anyone who needs to know like the photographer, caterer or wedding planning.
Confirm wedding timeline
This is a great time to make sure that everything and everyone is on the same page for the wedding day. Checking in with vendors to be sure they have the correct arrival time and reaching out to the wedding party so they know what the plans are for the day are super important to make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Manicure and pedicure
One thing that almost every bride never forgets to put on their wedding day checklist is to get a manicure and pedicure. Most brides want to be pampered on and leading up to their special day. This is a fun thing to do with your bridesmaids or even your mother and mother-in-law. It’s important to take the time to relax before the big day!
Check on your marriage license
Making sure your marriage license is in order is important to make sure that the wedding is, well, official! It might be helpful to assign someone to keep track of it so it doesn’t get lost in the mix during all of the excitement.
Confirm honeymoon logistics
Of course you will be thinking of things that need to be done for the wedding, but what about after? You should double-check your flight times and confirm any hotel bookings and activities you have planned to make sure that after the wedding goes off without a hitch as well! Don’t forget to pack your bags this week, too!
Prepare payments
Leading up to the wedding you should be checking your contract for payment deadlines to be sure you are paying your vendors on time. This is a great time to make your last payments and get checks ready for when they are due!
Assign a helper
Assigning a helper on your wedding day is a great way to make sure small details don’t get missed. You may need someone to pack up your gift and belongings after you leave the venue. Make sure they don’t forget the top tier of your cake!
