The days leading up to your wedding are usually filled with checklists and other lists of things that need to be completed. This usually includes picking out all of the different elements of the ceremony and reception, the dress, bridesmaids’ dresses, groomsmen tuxes, decorations, food and anything else you can think of. Since you have spent so much time creating lists beforehand, a lot of times couples forget to make a day-of wedding day checklist.
Having a checklist is critical to be sure that you do not forget anything important. When rushing to get ready or being overwhelmed with the excitement of your special day, it is easy to forget small or even big details. You want to be sure that your day-of checklist is incredibly thorough and you will want to check it over many times before the big day to be sure you aren’t forgetting anything.
You will also want to designate someone to complete the wedding day checklist. It can definitely be the bride, but if you are looking to just relax before the ceremony, you may want to have someone else in charge of your checklist. This is often your wedding planner, but if you do not have one, it could be the maid-of-honor, mother of the bride or another family member. Be sure to go over the checklist with them before the day-of to be sure they know where everything is and to make things easier on them.
Now that you are ready to start planning what goes into your day-of wedding day checklist, here are some ideas to put on it:
Outfit
This may seem like a no brainer, but you want to be extra sure that you have everything you need to get dressed before the ceremony. This should include your wedding dress, shoes, veil or hair accessories, jewelry and a garter. Of course, you should customize this list to include anything else you would like to be wearing during the ceremony. You may think that you could never forget a certain important element of your outfit, but when you are filled with excitement it is easy to forget things that you normally wouldn’t, which is why the checklist is so important!
Payments
Depending on what your payments look like for all of your vendors, you want to be sure that you are prepared to pay everyone on time. If any of your vendors are accepting payment on your wedding day, you want to be sure that you do not forget. In addition, some couples tip their vendors after they are finished at the ceremony or reception. You should include in your checklist to remember to bring cash for tips, or envelops with a predetermined amount of money either in cash or by check. You should put someone in charge of keeping track of these payments or envelopes so they don’t get lost, but also to be sure that you do not forget to hand them out.
Itinerary
This isn’t always a tangible item, but you want to be sure that you have a timeline and itinerary that you are sticking to on the day of. Be sure not to be too rigid when it comes to a bump in the road, but try your best to stick to a schedule to be sure that things keep moving along nicely. Having a printed out version of your timeline can also help be sure that you and everyone else is staying on track!
